the DIETITIAN
Are you ready to start balancing your hormones naturally so you can feel your best?
Hi, I’m Melissa!
Do you feel like a boss in every area of your life BUT your hormones? Are you struggling with the symptoms of PCOS, infertility, or other hormone imbalances, but just don’t have time to research evidence-based recommendations for yourself?
Or maybe you’re confused by all the conflicting information out there? Or don’t know who to trust?
Good news… I can help!
I created The Hormone Dietitian® LLC to offer a different approach to health and wellness for women. I use an integrative functional medicine approach to identify and address the root causes of all of your symptoms, instead of merely treating your symptoms as they pop up, like a lifelong game of whack-a-mole.
With personalized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, you can regain normal, symptom-free menstrual cycles and get pregnant naturally — without medications or giving up any of your favorite foods.
I see clients virtually from the comfort of your own home one-on-one and in group programs, and hundreds of women have taken my online, self-study PCOS course, The PCOS Root Cause Roadmap™ and The Period Problems Root Cause Roadmap™. I’m also the creator of PCOS Meal Prep Made Easy and the host of Hormonally Yours with The Hormone Dietitian.
My clients have referred to me more than once as the period fairy. If you’d like to see more nice things clients have said about working with me, check out our testimonials.

Our Mission
Our mission is to be the no-BS hormone nutrition education resource for smart, busy women struggling with hormone imbalance.
Who We Serve
We don’t and can’t work with just anyone, even if we wanted to! We are for you if you are a boss in all areas of your life except your hormones. We are for you if you are OVER dieting and quick fixes and ready to try something sustainable and customized and totally different from anything you’ve tried before. We are for you if you really want to understand the root causes of YOUR issues and address them in a way that is customized exclusively for you so that you can get back to being the CEO you are. If you are serious about investing in your health now so you can sustain that momentum for a lifetime… we can help you get there.

About Melissa Groves Azzaro, RDN, LD
I’m an award-winning integrative and functional women’s health dietitian. I use a functional medicine approach to figure out the root causes of your symptoms, and together, we develop a personalized plan that goes far beyond “just a diet” to get you feeling better and living your best life.
I spent the first 15 years of my career working as a copywriter in New York City medical advertising—so, believe me when I tell you that I understand the challenges of incorporating healthy habits into a busy lifestyle.
I totally burned out on the high-stress NYC advertising lifestyle (not to mention shilling big pharma for the man) and had the hormonal imbalances to prove it.
So, I went back to school to become a registered dietitian so I could help other women living a similar lifestyle and struggling with similar hormone issues learn how to put their health first and would have the credentials to do so.
I still write some — I have been featured in national magazines including Healthline, Eating Well, Shape, Popsugar, and VeryWell. I am also the author of A Balanced Approach to PCOS.
In true New York fashion, with me, what you see is what you get. I tell it like it is and lay out the facts for you so that you can make the best decisions about your health. And I’m there for you every step of the way. If you’re looking for warm and fuzzy… that’s not me. But you’re here for the truth about how to get better, not coddling, right?
I live in western New Hampshire with my husband (you may know him better as “Mr. Avocado”) and our 7 cats (yup, 7). I love shopping at the Farmers’ Market and breathing ocean air whenever possible. I still wear all black most of the time, drink my daily coffee black, and try to refrain from swearing (as much, anyway —once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker).
I’m an INFP and a rebel… so I hate being told what to do and I hate following rules *almost* as much as I hate being labeled. I am passionate about empowering ALL women to have complete control over their own freakin’ bodies. So if you’re anti-choice… we probz won’t be buds.
Our Beliefs
-
I believe in combining a holistic approach to wellness with evidence-based medicine.
-
I believe food truly is medicine. And all the supplements in the world ain’t gonna heal an unhealthy lifestyle.
-
I believe in a personalized approach to nutrition—no one-size-fits-all meal plans here!
-
I do not promote restrictive diets—we focus on healthy behaviors, not restrictions or the scale. This is a judgment-free zone. A healthy weight can only be attained and maintained when hormones have come into balance.
-
I believe in empowering women to take their health into their own hands—I’m here to guide you, not tell you what to do.
- I believe women’s rights are human rights and in reproductive justice and access to compassionate, informed healthcare education for all. Women’s health is inherently political.
-
I believe that by specializing exclusively in women’s health and hormone issues, I am giving you the absolute best care you could receive (would you see a general surgeon for brain surgery?)
-
I believe that only credentialed, licensed professionals should be able to give you advice on nutrition, supplements, and lab results. Yes, I’m a capable and certified health coach as well, but I also am legally able to order and interpret labs, make personalized nutrition and supplement recommendations, and have the years of scientific education required to be able to do so.
Our Core Values
-
Authenticity – you’ll get the no-BS, evidence-based truth here.
-
Independence – I am the boss of my body, my business, and my life, and I want that for you, too!
- Integrity – We only work with brands, clients, and other collaborators who share our values. We vet partnerships thoroughly.
-
Empowerment – our goal is for YOU to be the authority on what health means to you. Our practice and our programs are built on the principle that once you have learned what works for YOU, you no longer need us.
- Achievement – We strive to deliver the best, premium services that go above and beyond to make you feel like the valued member of our community you are. Our one-on-one services are customized to YOU – your needs, goals, lifestyle, culture, and preferences.
- Meaningful work – our work impacts lives and families in a huge way and allows us to donate time and money to causes we care about. 100% of the support services we use behind the scenes are women-owned and we are making efforts to shift software choices where possible.
The Hormone Dietitian LLC is woman-owned and woman-run.
