I have always been overweight and had been accepting of it for the past few years. I tried for a year to get pregnant before seeking out my OBGYN and then a Reproductive Endocrinologist. I did many fertility treatments over 3 years from clomid, femara and trigger shots to IVF. During my last few months of of treatment with a traditional doctor I was diagnosed with PCOS and was prescribed a low dose steroid (for 6 months) that wrecked my body. I gained 40 lbs in those 6 months, was experiencing extremely swollen ankles every day and developed anxiety I had never had before. I was always tired, truly unhappy, and I was still not pregnant. It took me getting to a real low point to seek out alternative treatment through Melissa.

What I didn’t realize and what turned out to be key was that this meant I wouldn’t have to restrict myself. Melissa never asked me to stop eating certain foods. She actually encouraged me to enjoy what I was eating more and indulge sometimes. She would comment on my food journal and say “Is this enough carbs for you?” or “Is this enough food for you?” The dietitian who worries if you are eating enough food or if you are satisfied is the kind of dietitian every woman should be working with. After working with Melissa I can see that the way she taught me to add foods that are good for my body made the difference in being able to make something a habit rather than a failed fad.

What is stopping you from choosing to work with a Dietitian? Really think about it. Then just schedule a consultation and ask Melissa the questions that make you hesitant. She will answer truthfully. She will offer testing, supplements, emotional support, answer endless chats and give you tools to take with you long after your 3 months are up.

I took [The PCOS Root Cause Roadmap] because I wanted a better understanding of my PCOS diagnosis, especially since the multiple doctors I’ve seen didn’t seem to care much other than putting me on the pill. Melissa’s teaching helped me understand the different hormonal levels involved and what to do about each “problem area” specifically.

Taking the  Course was one of the best things I have invested in for my fertility journey. You learn so much about ways to fuel your body correctly, tests and real facts about PCOS, and it’s packed with useful handouts that make implementing everything so much easier. By following Melissa’s methods, I was able to ovulate naturally within the first few weeks.

I’m still working on getting it down to a more regular pattern, but being able to have a period without induction medication is one step closer to my goal of getting pregnant one day! I was struggling with cystic acne, monthly yeast infections, mood swings, facial hair, painful periods and not really knowing how to interpret my DUTCH test results. After coming off hormonal birth control 2 years ago, my period started becoming irregular about 8 months later. After skipping my period one month, I knew something wasn’t right. A few months later, I was diagnosed with PCOSand was told the only treatment for PCOS was prescription drugs.
